CAMBRIDGE BRANCH'S YEAR
SUCCESSFUL WORK REVIEWED
A successful year both financially and practically, was reviewed at the annual meeting of the. Cambridge Branch of the St. John Ambulance Association lasjt evening. Mr C. H. Priestley presided. ■-♦ The report of the branch, and the report of the work of the brigade will be published in our next issue. The balance sheet revealed a credit balance of £BO 6/11. Receipts totalling £355 10/(5 included donations and collections £205 10/6, and a loan of £l5O. Among the expenditure was £219 for the amublance.
The ambulance maintenance account showed a credit balance of £26 8/11. The receipts, including ambulance fees of £3O, totalled £3l 3/11. The balance sheet showed surplus assets over liabilities of £42 12/8. . .
In congratulating the association upon the excellent state of its finances and upon the splendid report, the chairman said: "There is no doubt that the ambulance brigade is a cause worthy of the support of the public. The chairman said that as Cambridge is centrally situated in the Waikato, and as calls have been answered by the ambulance to residents of the neighbouring counties, it was regrettable that the County Councils did not support the fund. On behalf of the brigade, Mr P. T. Glanville paid a tribute to the very fine manner in which the officers have handled the branch's business. Election of Officers The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:— President, Mr C. H. Priestley; vicepresidents, Messrs E. H. Leigh, D. Caley, Wynn Brown, W. Drake, V. H. Nolan, R. Kirkby, A. Coubrough, W. Harbutt, W. N. Perry, J. W. Garland and Drs. J. Ritchie, H. C. Tod, and N. Waddle; secretary, Mr R. S. Entwistle; treasurer, Mr C. Ruge; chairman of executive, the Rev. C. ;W. Chandler; hon. auditor, Mr Edgar James; committee, Miss Hulse, Messrs C. W. Boyce, H. E. Amyes, E. IT. Leigh, P. T. Glanville, E. Glover, F. M Oliver, L Richards, C. B. Crake, C. Waghorne, T. H. Hampshire, F. Woods, J. S. Williams, with power to add to twenty; executive committee, the Rev. C. W. Chandler, Messrs R. S. Entwistle, C. Ruge, P. T. Glanville, F. Ml. Oliver, E. Glover, E. H. Leigh, H. E. Amyes, and Miss Hulse. The plans and specifications for the Ambulance Station were tabled, and Mr C. W. Boyce reported that no alterations would be necessaryHe felt that it would be but a short time before the building was commenced. Members were unanimous in support of Mr H. E. Amyes' suggestion that in recognition of Mr Entwistle's excellent work as secretary, he should be granted an honorarium. A resolution to the effect was carried. In future the executive will meet on the second Wednesday in each month.
Motions of thanks were passed to the honorary auditor, to the retiring chairman, Mr C. W. Boyce, and to the Press.
