Monthly Court.—The monthly sitting of the Cambridge Magistrate's Court will be held tomorrow.

Card Evening. A St. Peter's Church Card Evening will be held in the Convent School this evening. Particulars are advertised.

St. Andrew's parish.—Parishioners of St. Andrew's Church are reminded that the annual meeting will be held in the Parish Hall tonight.

Band Annual Meeting—The annual meeting of the Cambridge Municipal Band will be held in the bandroom tomorrow evening, and all interested are invited to attend.

Ambulance Fund Donations.—Two further donations to the St. John Ambulance Fund are:—W. Souter and Co., £5 5/-; Wilkinson and Co., £1 1/-. The total fund is now £2ll 16/6.

Ragwort Rate Declined.—By a majority of four votes to three the Piako County Council decided at its last meeting against a proposal to strike a rate of h\ in the £ for ragwort eradication purposes.

"Anzac Saturday."—Overheard in the street on Saturday morning:— First youngster (discussing holidays): "What's today?" Good Friday, isn't it?" Second youngster: "No, it's Anzac Saturday!"

Less Outstanding Rates. —"lt is a sign of the times," said the Mayor of Morrinsville, when the town clerk reported that are at present less rates outstanding than at any time during the past five years. Skilled Operatives Scarce.—There is a big scarcity of experienced machinists for clothing factories in Dunedin. Plenty of labour of a certain kind is available, but skilled operatives are very scarce. One company recently had 30 vacancies and could not fill them.

Meeting in Evening.—The recent decision of the Cambridge Branch of the New Zealand Farmers' Union to hold future monthly meetings in the evening appears to be a satisfactory move, for at the first evening meeting on Friday there were several more than the average number of members.

Fairfield Bridge Contract.—An extension of time until August 31 next in which to complete the Fairfield Bridge has been granted the contractors, the Roose Shipping Company Limited, by the Waikato County Council. Mr C. Roose, stated that the builders had been very unfortunate in the weather experienced. For four months on end the river was in flood and the building of the coffer dams was delayed.
