With the commencement of the last series of matches in the second round of the cricket competition on Saturday last, there was some good scoring returned, making the bowlers' figures suffer lo some extent. Although giving several chances, Oldfield played a very sound knock for his 61, and scored freely. His most prolific scoring stroke was a hard pull shot to leg, where he hit many boundaries. Of the rest of the City batsmen, Munroe, Hughes and K. Conder secured a dozen apiece. Hughes shaped promisingly, considering his lack of practice, while W. Munroe showed very sound defence, before he was finally stumped. The High School attack was very steady throughout, under the rocktactics of the City batsmen, Watt and Morriss, both securing three wickets for 16 and 21 runs respectively. Humphries bowled a poor length, having 45 runs hit off. him for his one wicket.

High School with 71 up for one wicket, have made a great start. Muller collected 57 and his wicket is still intact. He has, at last, showed his true form and monopolised the scoring, and 30 of his runs came from sixes.

On one of the few occasions this season for them, Leamington have placed themselves in a very fine position, in their match against United Services, at the Square. L. McKinnon batted in line style, and showed a fine variety of strokes on both sides of the wicket, before finally putting his leg in front when he had reached.s9. He was associated in a useful partnership with R. McDonnell, who in knocking up a lusty 34 registered his highest and best strike of the season.

Services greatly missed their crack bowler-E. Chard, Macdonald bearing the brunt of the bowling to capture three victims costing 33 runs. R. Sayers came to light with a fine steady performance in taking three for 11. In Services first strike they are up against big odds with five down for 56. Macdonald contributed 31 of these and is unbeaten. Gaining his old confidence, he batted in approved style, playing a sound fighting innings.

L. McKinnon, bowling for Leamington, struck a fine length, and spun the ball to good advantage in taking three of the wickets fallen. In these games both Leamington and High School have good chances of forcing a first innings victory, and possibly outright wins.
