BIRTHDAY PARTY A very jolly little birthday party was held at Fencourt recently, when Dorcen Tierney entertained her young friends in the garden of tier home at "Belmont." After playing numerous games the party concluded with a birthday tea, which was quite one of the. most important events of the afternoon. Among those present were: Joyce Tierney, Vida Haycock, Isabel Bowie, Margaret Wallace, Agnes Wallace, Bebe Johnson, Alison Lowe, Ailsa Harvey, Alma Rennie, Mona Clagg, Gay Cubis and Master Bruce Harvey.

MAUNGATAUTARI WOMEN'S INSTITUTE The Maungataiitari Women's Institute meeting was held in the local hall when Mrs J. H. Scott presided. After the National Anthem and the creed, business was dealt with. The court for the Cambridge A. and P. Show was discussed. The roll call was "What you think of the Home and Country Magazine." Mrs L. F. Meeking gave the motto and Mrs E. Nickle read a link letter from Otawhao, Takapau. The competition, a collection of articles for the court, resulted: Miss Watson and Miss Hart Hicks, equal, first; Mrs Ariell and Miss Griffin, equal, second. Flower competition.— Mixed Flowers: Mrs A. McVicar 1, Mrs T. La Trobe Hill 2; Mrs J. G. Douglas and Miss Watson ,3. Vase of Dahlias: Mrs E. Nickle 1, Mis D. W. Ariell 2, Mrs A. J. Trow 3. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mesdames E. Nickle, J. O'Neill and Miss Watson. Mesdames Douglas and McVicar were at the sales table.

PARTY AT TAUWHARE BRIDE AND GROOM-TO-BE HONOURED A popular young couple who are soon to joint the ranks of the young marrieds are Miss Merle Chesterman of Hamilton, who is well-known in Cambridge, and Mr Ned Brown. The wedding date has been fixed definitely for the 22nd of this month, and the ceremony will take place in Hamilton. Last Thursday night a number of friends of the young couple arranged a very bright dance in their honour, when everyone was in particularly bright spirits and the evening went with the desired swing. This very jolly party was held in the Tauwhare Hall, here Mrs Leckie and Mr Clayton played bright dance music. A number of old hunting songs and other amusing items were given by some of the Hunt Club members, which added yet more to the bright evening.' ; t During the evening Mr Tom Wells,' on behalf of all the gathering, presented Mr Ned Brown and his brideelect with a cheque. DANCE AT MAUNGATAUTARI Another of the bright dances organised by the Maungatautari Hall Committee was held last Wednesday night in the Maungatautari Hall. Quite a number of the Cambridge young things journeyed out to enjoy the fun. Novelty dances added to the enjoyment and were won by Miss M. Henson and Mr R. Kick! and Miss N. Moore and Mr D. Calvert. Among those dancing to the popular tunes played by the Regal Dance Band were: Misses Grace Foster, Thora Hardy, Mary Hieks, Kath.
