HOSPITAL BUILDING

WAIKATO BOARD'S SCHEME . i« HAMILTON AND MATAMATA Sanction to the Waikato Hospital Board's proposal to raise a loan for building purposes: was received from the Local Government Loans Board on Thursday, at a meeting of the Hospital Board. Mr J. J. Ryburn presided. Additions to the nurses' home at the Waikato Hospital, the construction of a nurses' home at Matamata, and extensions to the dining-room, and kitchen accommodation in the staff's quarters at the Waikato Hospital will be undertaken. The hospital board desired to raise £16,150 to carry out these building additions and extensions, and the Loans Board in giving its approval to the raising of £14,700 by way of loan, intimated that the balance required, £1450, would be provided by subsidy from the Unemployment Board. < The loan had been sanctioned on the understanding that the buildings would be of earthquake resisting construction. It was mentioned that the loan would be raised at 3* per cent, to extend over 20 years. A decision was reached to accept the terms laid down by the Loans Board. In reply to a question as to what provision would be made to accommodate the nurses at Rotorua Hospital, since additions there had been deleted from the estimates, the chairman pointed out that the board had erected additional bedrooms and it was explained that Rotorua would be considered when the time arrived.
