DEATH IN LONDON ! REFERENCE AND TRIBUTE FRCvM MAYOR The death in London of Admiral of the Fleet, Earl Jellicoe of Scapa, who was Governor-General of New Zealand from 1920 to 1924, was feelingly referred to by his Worship the Mayor, Mr C. H. Priestley, at the commencement of a political meeting in the Town Hall on Thursday evening, at which he was chairman. Mr Priestley said that the late Earl Jellicoe was • well-known to Cambridge residents, for he visited this town to unveil our handsome war memorial in December of .1923. The Mayor paid a tribute to the qualities of Earl Jellicoe as a Gov-ernor-General, saying that he was one of-Hhe best and most just Representatives of the King New Zealand had known. Immediately upon receipt of a cable from London on Thursday, telling of the late Earl's death at the age of 76, the flag was hoisted at half-mast on the Cambridge post office.
