LEAMINGTON RESIGNATIONS

(To the Editor). Sir,We, ratepayers of Leamington, tender our sincere thanks to Mr Thomas Hounslow for his brilliant and truly lucid explanation of recent board troubles. "We live and learn" and have apparently nothing to fear from the machinations of the board no wthat the three dragons—Mack, Brock and Blackman have resigned "and quite right too!" who laboured under the delusion that resolutions passed at board meetings had to be honouror and not scrapped.and cast to the four winds at will. » „•»»

It will profit none of us to pay excess water rates and other liabilities when due —our policy will be to let them mount and mount, and after repeated threats to cut off water Supply, wo simply have to hike away to the clerk's office and give him a £1 and a "promise," but we must not make the drastic mistake of altogether ignoring the said threats and payment of £l, and defying the board to cut off our sll Pply? or we might find ourselves in the positin of the poor offender whose lot it was to be temporarily deprived of "Adam's Pure Ale."

It was his misfortune to" find resolutions had meantime been proposed and approved by the alleged soft-hearted section of the board and ultimately unanimously passed and minuted by the full board, that offenders who ignored the board and continued to default, would be cut off, and would "not be re-connected until all arrears togetrer with charge for disconnecting and con-

neetig, were paid to the secretary:" Apparetly even at this stage there are loopholes. Tender £l—not enough —well £2—and the remaining board, contrary to all municipal rulings will relent, and in so doing be satisfied to accept without question the resignations of three members, one at least who has served the board for 17 years, and the chairman to boot, and in place of leaving the decision' in the ratepayers hands, by general election, proceed to nominate candidates to fill the vacant seats.
