Tam, representing the Maun- ( gatautari Club, presented a report of - the club’s recent meeting, and he supported the club’s request that it bo alloAved to enter a team in this season’s competition. Mr Tain assured the meeting that they had. sufficient players to enter a team and several of their members had taken part, in prominent Native games. Mr A. Allen, another representative from Maungatautari, supported the previous speaker. Mr H. Cubis said the competition, Avith four teams, last season Avas highly , successful. In reply to Mr Cubis, Mr Tairi assured the meeting that they could easily field a senior and a junior, team. Mr W. Smellie (United) said he thought a junior team should Avin the sub-union’s competition before its club applied for senior status. In reply to a further question, Mr Tairi said they would not deplete other senior teams. They Avould only take tAvo players—one from Leamington and the other from Hautapu. These Avoro Maungatautari residents. Messrs H. Middlemiss (Northern) and V. Boulton (United) spoke in opposition to increasing the number of senior teams beyond four. They point---s ed out that the inclusion of a senior team from Maungatautari Avould necessitate a bye every week and this Avas detrimental to fit players. Mr Middlemiss suggested that, if Maungatautari had plenty of players then they could enter two junior teams. After a little further discussion the motion Avas put to the meeting and lost by a considerable majority. Messrs T. McCarthy and J. Wallis, of ■ Pukerimu, Avere present and preferred a request for the nomination of a junior team in the sub-union's competition from that district. y Mr McCarthy presented a lengthy list of players and assured the subunion of a good team. Mr H. Cubis said it was gratifying to him to see the players and enthusiasts in the Pukerimu district sticking to the Cambridge sub-union. After a little discussion it Avas moved by Messrs V. Boulton (United) and H. Roberts (Hautapu) that the nomination go before the meeting, and on a vote being taken the motion Avas easily carried. Pukerimu \s inclusion will increase the number of junior teams to seven. . MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE Subsequently the first meeting of the management committee avus held, Mr Drake being appointed chairman. Mr E. Scott waited on the meeting in connection with the projected visit of a Cambridge, senior seven-a-side’ team to take part in the Kaponga (Taranaki) Club’s seveu-a-side tourney at Easter. It. Avas decided to make a grant ox £5 10/- towards the team’s travelling/--expenses. Players in' training for the trip are: —Fonvards: Messrs S. Harbutt, it. lloAvitt, P. Beer, D. Bourke. Backs: Messrs N. Holmes, H. Peake, W. Stuart, K. Reid and one other. Correspondence Avas received from tiie Hamilton sub-union seeking support for the altering of the Finlay Cup rules to provide for a scries of organised matches commencing practically at the beginning of the season. The conditions Avould provide for home and a>vay matches.. The delegates Avere instructed to support the proposal. The following sub-committees were appointed : —Referees’ Appointment: Messrs H. Cubis, j. G. Outran and I* Fisher. Fixtures: Messrs G. J. S. McKenzie and V. Boulton. Emergency: President, Secretary and Mr Entwistle. Caretakers: Messrs'A. Fitzgerald and' J. Melvor. Grounds: Messrs E. Hall, - N. Garland, A. Moore and secretary. It Avas decided to pay tlie referees’ affiliation fee to the Waikato Referees’ Association. S.
