IN THE CHURCHES

SUNDAY SERVICES AVERAGE ATTENDANCES There were average attendances at the district Churches on Sunday morning, but in the evening when the atmosphere was.- cooler tho congregations were large. .^.-ji. l St. Andrew's Church "How long will you halt between two opinions" formed the scriptural basis for a sermon on "Indecision," by the Rev. C. W. Chandler in the Parish Church in the evening. The absolute conviction ot Elijah —his assurance that no matter how hard the test, Jehovah would win, put to silence in a most dramatic, fashion, all the prophets of Baal. Conviction is the "percussion cap" behind all our prayers and spiritual endeavours, and "to know," and be "persuaded" of tho love of God through Jesus Christ is the product of experience through faith. Miss Maud Giles gave a very beautiful rendering of "Come Unto Me," from Handel's "Messiah" during the service. Harvest Thanksgiving The Eev. Jasper Calder will be visiting Cambridge on Sunday, the 17th, and will be preaching at St. Andrew's Church at Evensong, it being the harvest thanksgiving.
