SWIMMING NOTES

(By “Pish.”)

In spite of bad weather a large number of club members turned out on Tuesday night, proving the popularity of club-night. The life-saving squad was instructed in the first method of release. All swimmers arc asked to joint this squad, and to be ready at 7 sharp for commencement. A few races, a demonstration of the racing turn by senior swimmers, an introduction to the thrills of aquaplaning, wore later items in the progiammc ■of the evening. On a cold night, such as Tuesday night, there are chances of catching vcold. To guard against chills, swimmers are warned against loitering about in clammy bathing suits, and aic advised to dress in pairs, after everyone has given his mate a brisk rubdoyn—head, body, arms, legs, until a warm gtyw is felt. There is a likelihood of Mr Perrin, professional instructor, of Rotorua, being present to give tuition to learners next Tuesday. The club trusts that ‘this expense will be amply justified by a large attendance on the night in question.
