WOMEN'S DIVISION

MONTHLY MEETING HELD NO COURT AT NEXT SHOW The usual monthly meeting of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held in the Oddfellows’ Hall on Monday afternoon, the president, Mrs Lambic, being in the chair. There was a good attendance of members. The creed was recited and the minutes of the previous meeting read and confirmed. A vote of sympathy was extended to Mrs W. G. Care on the recent loss of her home by fire. On the motion of the president, it was decided that the Women’s Division would not participate in a court at the Cambridge Show, this being outside the Division’s activities. It was decided to hold a penny drive for the Xmas fund for the settlement children’s parties, and the sum of 6/7 was taken in the room. The following new members were elected on the motion of Mrs Lambic, seconded by Mrs Peake: Mesdames Reid, Kearvcll and Moorhead. A very beautiful display of spring flowers, resulted in the following awards: Any variety: Mrs J. A. Wallace 1, Mrs Lambie 2; decorative bowl: Miss M. Hicks 1, Mrs Lambie 2; six varieties of daffodils: Mrs Aricll 1, Mrs Feisst 2. Mrs E. C. Wallis provided a very amusing competition which was much enjoyed by all present, Miss Marj Hicks proving the winner. Afternoon tea was then served, the hostesses being Mesdames Gane, E. C. Wallis, H. Jackson and Lewis.
