TRAFFIC IN COUNTY
AVERAGE DAILY FIGURES The monthly meeting of the Matamata County Council was held at Tirau on Friday, when Cr J. W. Anderson presided. The engineer reported that traffic tallies had been taken throughout the county during the last week in August. The average daily motor vehicles recorded in the county were as follows: Richmond Downs, Junction Waharoa 275, including 160 which turned off to or came from Richmond Downs and 115 which remained on No. 19 highway at Karapiro factory, 296 which remained on No. 18 highway and 67 which used Buckland Road turn off. Total 363. At Tirau Domain 162 used only No. 18 highway and 143 turned off to or came from Putaruru. Total 305. For purposes of comparison it may be stated that the figure for Hillcrcst near Hamilton was 1159, including 512 which used the Morrinsville turn-off and 592 for Ohinewai, including 92 which used the Tahuna turn-off.
