"World's Worst Referee."—At the annual smoke concert given by members of the Canterbury Rugby Union to the members of the Canterbury Referees ' Association the other evening, tliere was a humorous episode, when the president of the Enforces' Association, Mr H. Macintosh, made a presentation on behalf of an anonymous follower of Rugby to "the world's Avorst referee." Mr E. Empson was chosen for this honour, because he allowed 51 points to be scored in the Cantcrbury-Wairarapa match last week. The presentation was made amid much merriment. The gift was a framed photograph of an incident in the Cantcrbury-Wairarapa match.
