BEAUTY HINTS.

When you want your hands to look specially pretty—and of course that is every time you go out—try this beautifying paste : Warm. a tablespoonful of olive oil. Stir into this a heaped teaspoon of castor sugar, a dessert-spoon of fine . oatmeal, a dessertspoon of lemon juice. Spread this all over your hands after having w T ashed and dried them, and work it w ? ell into every part of the skin. Do this for several minutes. Rinse the hands in fairly-warm soapy water, and dry thoroughly. This makes the hands as smooth as satin and beautifully white. Don’t Spoil Your Skin. Many girls harm their skin by using too much vanishing cream. When the wind is from the east, and the face is dry, rough and inclined to peel, do not use vanishing cream. Use a little good cold cream, and powder as usual. A Make-up' Hint.— Before using lipstick rub a tiny touch of. almond oil into the skin. The lipstick will look much smoother afterwards. Sleep for Beauty.—You cannot he beautiful if you. are very tired, so try to get sufficient sleep, even though summer evenings tempt one to stav up late. When you go to bed very tired eat a slice of brown bread and butter, thickly spread with brown sugar, to calm your nerves. Nails.—Before you put on nail varnish do you wipe each nail with varnish remover, even when there is no varnish on it? You should. It makes the polish go on much .better. A massage with warm olive oil will remedy that dry harsh appear-

ance of your hair. To Get Suntanned. —If you want to get tanned this summer be wise and start very gradually. If sunny days tempt you to sunbathe in the garden or on the beach during the holidays do not expose more than your iegs and arms at first. Do not “ bathe ” in full sunshine during the middle of the day—that is between 11 a m. and 3 p.m.—as the sun is too strong then. You can “ bathe ” quite well in a slightly-shaded place. It is also wise to smother the _ limbs and all exposed skin with olive or almond oil. This will not make the skin too greasy but will protect it and help to give a healthy tan.
