WAIKATO RACING
HAMILTON CLUB’S YEAR, HIGHER STAKES SUGGESTED. The annual meeting of the Waikato' Racing Club was held on Saturday. The president, Mr F. R. Seddonr, presided over a good attendance of members. Mr A. E. Manning explained details in the balance-sheet, and pointed out that the amount paid in Government taxation was £2Bl more than was paid in the previous year’ not less, as was' erroneously printed in the report. The total was £4976. The club, he said, had been very economically conducted during the year, and after making provision for depreciation, bad debts, interest to debenture-holders and mortgagees, had finished with a profit of £379. The buildings of the club were now in excellent order. It was stated that next year the question of providing- higher stakes would have to be faced. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The following officers were declared elected unopposed: President, Mr F. R. Seddon; vice-president, Mr A. Millar? committee, Messrs P. H. Clarkin, T. Clarkin, R. B. Cranwell, A. E. Manning, J. C. Potts and R .T. Reid.
