CAMBRIDGE AND PIRATES DRAW KAIPAKI ALSO DRAWS WITH OLD BOYS. The Waikato Hockey Association’scompetitions were continued on Saturday at Steele Park, and a feature of the senior competition was three drawn games. Cambridge could not do better than to draw with Pirates. From the Scoreboards. Colts 2 v. Hinemoa 2. Pirates 1 v. Cambridge 1. Old Boys 2 v. Kaipaki 2. PIRATES AND CAMBRIDGE.

Playing like a reorganised team Pirates fought valiantly to play Cambridge to a draw, one goal each. Improved team-work gave Pirates their success, while lack of co-operation between the forwards and the halves was the chief source of Cambridge’s weakness. Cambridge opened the attack, but Clark . hit out of danger. Pirates forced the visitors to a corner and from the ensuing melee McDonagh drew first blood for the homo team. Cambridge retaliated, but Cummings and Jones transferred the ball to the other end. Pirates maintained the pressure and hard close play followed on Cambridge’s line, but swung to the other end. where, following, a close scramble in the goal-mouth, W. Kchely forced the ball past Darrall. Cummings took the ball down the line at the opening of the second spell, but his cutsido pass went, astray. Play swung to the other end of the field, where Ivehely had an. ineffective shot, and Cummings returned play to neutral territory. The, visitors were attacking at the call of time, when the final score remained—Pirates 1, Cambridge 1. Mr W. G. Fabling was the referee. KAIPAKI MEET OLD BOYS. In a hard and fast game, in which rapid forward play predominated, Kaipaki and Old Boys played to a draw, 2 goals each. Both elevens combined well and neither team held advantage for any length of time throughout the game. Old Boys attacked, the ball travelling to the Kaipaki circle where brisk play ensued. Cowley and Bones worked play to neutral territory, and J. Tarr hit on to the Old Boys’ line where a corner was ordered. Craig reversed the position with a smart dash down field, and an attempt at goal narrowly failed. Old Boys secured in a handy position and J. West shot the ball into : the corner of the net. Shortly after Davies secured in *a handy position and put Old Boys two up. Kaipaki replied briskly and forcing play into the home team’s territory C. Tarr capped a goqd movement by a shot from well out. M. West, Old Boys’ goal-keeper, believing the ball to be outside the circle, let an easy shot into the net. Half-time was called shortly after.' Goodwin, with a swift individual effort, put Kaipaki on attack early in the second spell and from a penalty corner C. Tarr beat West with a fast ground shot. Old Boys attacked with a series of loose forward rushes, but Smillie kicked clear on several occasions and the visitors’ goal was kept intact. Hard, even play followed, with the attack shared, neither team being able to hold the territorial advantage for any length of time. Old Boys attacked in tho closing stages, but the defence held until the final whistle with the score: Old Boys 2, Kaipaki 2. Messrs J. Tait and G. C. Hunter were referees. SECOND GRADE RESULTS. Technical School A played a drawn game against Kaipaki, no score being made on either side. Cambridge 2 defeated Hinemoa 0. NO LADIES’ GAME. Horotiu ladies were unable to muster a team to come and play the Leamington ladies.
