TOWN HALL PICTURES

“LET US BE GAY." OUTSTANDING ATTRACTION'. As was demonstrated at last evening’s screening of “Let Us Be Gay," there can be little doubt that the Shit is an outstanding one from the point of view of the performances given, by Norma Shearer and Marie Dressier. The former, as a shrewd woman of the. world is well suited to the part and flirts with ail and sundry, who in any way are attractive to her. However, it is at a house party given by Mrs Boueicout (Miss. Dressier) that she comes upon her first stumbling block. Miss Dressier is seen as the gruff eccentric, bitingly sarcastic, yet very human old dowager, Mrs Boueicout-, and provides an excellent, foil for Miss Shearer.

Rod la Roeque portrays the role of Kitty’s (Miss Shearer) former husband who has been separated from his wife for a considerable period, and at one of the house parties falls in love with Mrs Boueicout’s grand-daughtor. How Sis affections are eventually transferred a clever manner makes an interesting and amusing theme that runs through the story, eventually culminating in asatisfactory climax.
