PRICE OF BUTTER

REDUCTION OF PENNY. NO LOCAL EFFECT YET. A reduction of Id a lb. in the price of finest grade butter is announced by Auckland distributors as from to-day. Finest butter is to be sold at 1/14 wholesale and .1/3 retail. The price of first and second grade butter are to remain unaltered at 1/14 wholesale and 1/3 retail, and 1/04 wholesale and 1/2 retail, respectively. A decrease of Id a lb. in the prices of first and second grades came into operation at the end of last month. The reduction of Id a lb. in the price of finest grade butter brings it down to the rate current before February 10. When enquiries were made locally this morning no official notice had been received in connection with a reduction.
