WHERE RATES GO TO.
COUNTY CLERK GIVES DETAILS. It is interesting to county ratepayers to know just how their rate money is spent. The following details were presented by the clerk at the monthly meeting of the Waipa County Council yesterday:— Twenty-five per cent of the current year's rates collected by that county council go to pay the interest and sinking fund on loans. Fifteen per cent goes to the Hospital Board. Thirty per cent represents the council's share of cost of maintenance of main highways and main roads, while the balance (30 per cent) together with the license fees collected is left for by-roads and administration.
