DAIRYING OUTPUT

N.Z.D.C.’S OPERATIONS. ADVANCES £779,000 LESS. A review of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Company’s operations during the six months ended December 31 is given by Mr C. J. Parlane, general manager of the company. Mr Parlane stated although production had substantially increased, lower prices had meant that the amount advanced to suppliers for the period June to December was £779,000 less than it was for the corresponding period of the previous year. During the six months the conipany had manufactured 22,396 tons' of butter 4935 tons of cheese and 500 tons of casein. Milk powder showed an increase of 452 tons. Mr Parlane said 10,799 cows had this season been added to the number from which the company drew its supply of butterfat. Of the quantity of cream supplied, 77.87 per cent had been graded first, as against 72 per cent for the corresponding period of the previous year.
