PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs G. Calvert returned from Auckland, bringing Miss Calvert with them. She had been spending a fortnight in Auckland. Mrs Waddle and Mrs E. Wilson returned from their visit to Kawhia on Thursday. Mr and Mrs Ziman and Mrs and Miss (tester left by motor on Friday to tour as far as the cold lakes. They expect to be away for a month. Mrs T. Eanstead’s hunter Toby was successful in winning the Dominion jumping competition at the Auckland Show. The Misses Sheet, of Leamington, have returned after spending a month 5n Wellington with friends. Miss Joan Couper and Miss Joan €nw, returned to Cambridge on Thursday, after spending- ten days with Mrs Hvman Lewis at Tauranga. BRIDGE AFTERNOON. On Friday afternoon Mrs D. E. Caldwell, of “ Green Hedges,” entertained a few friends at bridge. The drawingroom was decorated with bowls of late roses and dahlias. Mrs Caldwell was wearing a navy blue and pink floral georgette frock; Mrs Barclay Farquhar •'(Fiji), nigger brown georgette frock. Others present were Mrs Neely, Mrs Calvert, Mrs J. Sawers, Mrs Couper, Mrk Hayward, Miss Braun and Miss Gwynneth. •TENNIS AND SWIMMING PARTY. Miss Hewett gave a most enjoyable tennis and swimming party. Tea was served in the drawing-room, the decorations being bowls of zinpias and dahlias. Mrs Hewett was wearing a -grey and mauve floral georgette frock. Miss Hewett was in a creme spun silk frock. Mrs Ziman, of “Dilkusha,” Hamilton Road, gave a very charming afternoon in honour of her mother and sister, Mrs and Mins Gester, of London. Mrs Ziman was wearing a saxe blue and white voile frock; Mrs Gester had on a black and grey crepe do chine frock; Miss Gester was in a silver grey -charmouse aud georgette frock. and crimson. A very amusing competition was held, the prize-winners of which were Mrs Garrard and Mrs G. Middleton. Richardson, pink and white spotted frock and black hat; Mrs N. Macky, navy blue crepe do chine and hat to match; Mrs G. Middleton, black crepe do chine and yellow hat; Mrs S. Lewis, blue and green crepe do chine and blue hat; Mrs Rush, blue and red floral crepe do chine and hat to tone; Mrs Perkins, black costume and black hat; Mrs Stevens (Hamilton), blue ring velvet costume and creme hat; Mrs Thompson, black crepe de chine costume and black hat; Mrs Garrard, navy crepe do chine, small navy blue hat; Mrs J. YOUNG PEOPLE'S DANCE

On Friday evening Mrs Rush, of Hamilton Road, gave a most enjoyable little dance for her daughter Jocelyn. The dance-room was decorated with coloured balloons and streamers. The verandah was used for sitting-out and was lighted with Chinese lanterns. Mrs Rush was wearing a pale pink moire silk frock; Mrs Nixon was in green brocaded georgette; Jocelyn Rush, pink taffeta and silver lace; Joyce Lewis, buttercup crepe de chine; Molly Sawers, blue georgette; Barbara Taylor, pink georgette; Isobel Taylor, lemon crepe de chine; Doreen Hubbard, pink crepe de chine; Mary Ferguson, red niaon; Joan Meredith, pale pink crepe de chine. Boys present were: Bobbie Rush, Tony Middleton, Brian Middleton, T. Middleton, Ross Sayers, Dennis Sawers, Ross Peake, Vincent Peake, Brian Banks and S. Banks.
