‘ ‘ THE DESERT SONG. ’ ’ “SMILING IRISH EYES.” “The Desert Song” will be screened locally for the last time this evening. For a good, clean, happy entertainment this film could not be beaten, for it contains all the essentials required of such a production. ■ The singing of John Boles is fine, while Carlotta King’s voice is one of the best yet heard over the talkies. All the familiar pieces provide a melodious background for the story which varies in tempo from a waltz to a brisk march. The colour scenes are numerous and blend well with the many outdoor spectacles. “SMILING IRISH EYES.” On Monday for a season of’ three nights a double-star programme will be screened headed by Coleen ' Moore in “Smiling Irish'Eyes,” and Dorothy Mackail and Milton Sills in “Man Trouble. ” The worth of the first attraction is well known and docs not need to be enlarged upon, while the second film is a hilarious story of tangled romance.
