A SERIOUS ACCIDENT
LORRY GOES OVER PRECIPICE. MAN DIES FROM INJURIES. By Telegraph—Press Association. TAURANGA, Monday. A serious motoring accident resulting later in the death of Mr William Jones, occurred ten miles from Tauranga, on Now Year's D ay. Mr Harry Jones, accompanied by his wife, daughter, Miss Sybil Jones, and his father, Mr William Jones, aged SO years as travelling in the direction of To Puke. When about a mile from the entrance to Mr Jones' farm, the vehicle went over the edge of a steep ravine about 500 or 600 feet deep, and sumersaultcd many times downwards. Mrs and Miss Jones were thrown clear and escaped injury. The two men were thrown out before the vehicle came to rest. Mr Jones, senr., was found suffering
from a broken collarbone and severe internal injuries. He was taken to his son's residence and died this morning. It was difficult to get help to M* Jones as he had been thrown off to the side into a mass of scrub and undergrowth.
