FRANKTON SALES. BEEF DECLINES. Beef again showed a marked decline at the weekly stock sales at the Frankton yards on Tuesday, while the quotations for sheep were also easier. Pig prices were a shade firmer. Ox beef was not yarded in as large numbers as usual, though there was a full yarding of cow beef. There was a i good yarding of sheep, while an average yarding of fat and store pigs came forward. The auctioneers ’ quotations arc as follows: — 'The Farmers’ Co-op. Auctioneering Company, Ltd. —A good yarding of fat and store cattle, and a medium yarding of fat sheep. Prices for all classes of beef again showed a decline on last week’s rates. Fat sheep were also easier. The store cattle comprised mostly young cattle and store cows, and these barely maintained late rates. Fat and store pigs came forward in fewer numbers, while both classes were slightly firmer than last week’s quotations. We quote: —Cattle: Light fat bullocks £9 10/- to £9 16/-; fat cows £7 to £7 16/-; medium £5 17/6 to £6 15/-; light £4 15/to £5 10/ ; forward cows £4 2/6 to £4 12/6; store cows £2 5/- to £3 15/-; yearling steers mixed colours 35/-; bulls 35/- to £5 10/-; vealers 30/- to £3. Sheep: Fat ewes 8/- to 11/3; fat hoggets 15/5 to 18/3; fat lambs 13/10 to 19/5. Pigs: Heavy choppers to £4 10/-; heavy baconers £2 12/- to £2 15/-; light £2 9/- to £2 1.1/-; heavy porkers £2 7/to £2 10/-flight £2 to £2 5/-; stores 30/- to 37/-; slips 25/- to 29/-; weaners 15/- to 22/6.

Dalgety and Company, Ltd.—Fat Sheep: An average yarding. Prices were practically the same as last week. Prime heavy shorn wethers sold at up to IS/-; light prime two-tooth wethers 16/- to 17/-; light and inferior 14/6 to 15/6; /forward woolly wethers 16/-; heavy fat ewes to-’ll/-; light-weight 10/-; inferior aged ewes 6/- to 8/-. Fat Cattle: A very largo yarding and a weak demand. Prices were 20/- per head lower. A good many second-class cows,were bought for freezing. Choice light fat bullocks ■ sold at. £lO 2/6; a good many consignments of bullocks were passed at auction. Prime young cows sold at .up to £8; light prime young cows £5 9/- to £6 15/-; rough heavy cows £4 15/- to £5 17/6; lightfat Jersey heifers and young cows £3 7/6 to £4 10/-; runners £3 to £3 15/-; store cattle were yarded in small numbers and soidW'iate rates. PigsfThere’ was a small, yarding of both fat and store pigs with firmer prices for baconers. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Ltd. —An exceptionally heavy yarding of cow beef and an average yarding of ox beef were penned, but both classes met with poor demand, the prices obtained shoving a further decrease on late rates. £oor competition was experienced for the smaller yarding of fat' sheep, and prices were lower than previous sales. An average yarding of store cattle sold at a decrease on late rates. We quote: Prime fat bullochs £ll 15/- to £l2 5/-; fat bullocks £lO 10/- to £ll 10/-; prime fat cows £7 12/6 to £7 15/-; fat cows £6 15/- to £7 7/-; lighter quality £5 17/- to £6 4/-; good runners up to £5; vealers £2 3/- to £2 6/-; good store cows £3 5/- to £3 7/-; poorer quality £2 8/to £2 12/-. Sheep: Prime fat wethers 16/3 to 16/9;. lighter quality 15/- to 15/6; prime fat ewes up to 15/3; good fat lambs 17/9 to 18/3. Pigs: Baeoners were penned in average numbers, those sold first showing an increase on recent prices, while as the market 'was satisfied prices fell to a par with late rates. The bidding for a small yarding of stores and weaners was brisk, and an increase on last week’s prices was obtained. We quote: Baeoners £2 10/- to £2 15/-; heavy porkers £2 3/- to £2 10/-; lighter do. £1 19/- to £2 2/6; stores £1 10/- to £1 15/-; slips £1 5/6 to £1 7/6; weaners 15/- to £1 1/-.
