THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.
(To the Editor). Sir, —I think your leader in Saturday's paper goes very near the mark when you say that the dairying industry in this country has antagonised Tooley Street merchants, and the sooner we co-operate with them again the '. sooner will prices improve for our produce. When the Dairy Control Board was first talked about it was said we were losing thousands of pounds - through our bad marketing methods. Well,v'the board w r as formed to save this, and what is the position to-day ? We are paying some,, thousands of pounds per annum to the Dairy Boaivl, Tooley Street is not interested in our produce, and the Danes are getting be- - twecn 20/- and 30/- more for their but-, ter. I, and a number of farmers, think- : that the board has outgrown its iisefulness, and if we gave all our attention'-' to producing at this end and allowed Tooley Street to do our marketing for us, it would not be long before the-"-prices for our butter would be equal lo Danish, or any other butter. If we are ; not organised enough to control themarket here, what chance have we of' controlling it 10,000 miles away? ' j Thanking you'for your valuable '■ —I am, etc., • .
