BRIDE-TO-BE HONOURED. (From Our Own Correspondent). A very happy function took place in the hall on Wednesday afternoon last When over forty people gathered to do honour to Miss Ruby Mellow, one of Kaipaki's best known and most popular young ladies, and whose marriage will shortly take place. . The gathering consisted of members ■ of the Ladies' Guild, members of the Girls' Hockey Club, to which Miss Mellow also belonged, and other friends and was under the management;of Mesdamcs A. Goodwin, J. McEldowney, J. Graham and A. E. McDonald. Musical items were kindly given by the Messrs I. Cunningham and I. Boyd, and elocutionary items by Miss P. Steenson, all of which received an encore. Some of the time was also happily passed in the guessing of competitions, which were won by Mrs Marnier, Mrs E. McEldowney, and Miss Pearl Mellow. Before the very dainty afternoon lea was served, Mrs A. Goodwin, president of the Ladies' Guild, extended a hearty welcome to Miss Mellow, the guest of honour, wishing her, in the name of those present, good health, long life and much happiness in the future, and -asked her to accept a largo number of parcels, which, upon being opened later, displayed a beautiful' array of gifts, dear to the heart of a bride. Miss Millie Lynds also spoke in eulogistic terms of Miss Mellow and on behalf of the hockey girls asked her to accept a beautiful picture. (Applause). Miss Mellow feelingly expressed her thanks and appreciation, and all joined in singing "For She's a Jolly Good. Fellow-' ' .
