HEAVY TRAFFIC.

SAWMILLER FINED. -HAMILTON, This Day. Uncertainty how to plead was expressed by Colin Tuck, timber miller, Hamilton, when charged in the Magistrate's Court with carrying a load in excess of the classification on the Matangi Road. Inspector A. I. Maguire stated that the road was classified for loads not exceeding il tons. Defendant had a load of Jogs on a lorry , and trailer. '■ When placed on the • weigh-bridge the front wheels weighed 1* tons, the back wheels 6 tons and the trailer 4-J tons. Defendant said it was exceedingly difficult to estimate the weight of timber loads. The magistrate replied that arrangements could be made by carriers with the local body for the payment of compensation when heavy loads were carried. Defendant was fined £5. For a similar offence George Thomas Monk, an employee of the last defend- ' ant, was fined £l.
