ROTO-O-RANGI

OPENING OP SWIMMING POOL. WELCOME TO NEW SCHOOL TEACHER. Thanks to the courtesy of Mr Ham, the children attending the Roto-o-rangi school have for some time past had the privilege of enjoying the use of a fine swimming pool on that ■ gentleman's property, some little distance from the school. The School Committee and others have done a considerable amount of work in damming the stream, forming an excellent pool for swimming. Recently a dressing-shed was erected for use by the girls, and other improvements are contemplated. Yesterday the pool was duly "opened," when, in addition to the school children, a number of parents and friends were present, and' spent a very enjoyable time. All were very pleased with the facilities provided for the children to bathe. During the afternoon Mr J. W. Peake (chairman of the School Committee) extended a cordial welcome to the new headmaster (Mr Redwood), who has just taken charge of the school, in place of Mr G. Gutry, who has been promoted. Afternoon tea helped to make the gathering a very pleasant one.
