ARRANGEMENTS FOR FIXTURE

On Tuesday evening a meeting df the Committee of the Cambridge Horticultural Society (under the auspices of the Methodist Church) was held at St. Paul's schoolroom to finalise arrangements in connection with the forthcoming Autumn Show, which will "be held at the Town Hall on Friday o£ next week, 11th inst. Mr Frank Penn (President) ocupied the chair, and there was a capital attendance of •twenty members, while apologies were received for the non-attendance of several ladies. Judges. It was reported that the executive tad appointed the f lowing judges, viz.: Chrysanthemums, dahlias and other cut flowers, Mr D. A. »Hay, of Auckland; decorations, Mrs —(Dr) Douglas, Hamilton; fruit and vegetables, Mr J. Ballard, Gordonton. « Opening of Show. It was resolved that the show be open to the public at 12 noon, but that ~"" : Cfitr formal opening be at 2 jj.m. Mr F. Lye, M.P. for the district, is to be asked to perform the official opening. Show Arrangements. The following class stewards were duly appointed:—Chrysanthemums and other cut flowers, Mrs Lowe and Mr -..'Geo. Cairer; dahlias, Miss Hooker and Mr E. J. Easter; decorations, Mrs •Glover and Mrs Cowling; fruit, Mr N. ■Carter and assistant; vegetables, MessmE. J. Mblville and L. Jenkins. Gane, Mr Geo. Carter ,and the president were deputed to arrange for the staging of exhibits, erection of the stalls, etc., and Mr Carter was authorised to erect tables and staging. An application was received from a nurseryman, requesting space for a trade exhibit at the show. It was resolved to give permission for a limited space. The secretary reported that entries were already coming in, and the prespects for the show were very reassuring. A brief discussion ensued regarding the date of the show being rather early for chrysanthemums. It was pointed out that no other suitable dates were available during the next few weeks, ; and it was thought very inadvisable to the show till May. It was therefore resolved to adhere ■i to the date already arranged for the show, viz., Friday next, 11th inst. A number of matters of detail were dealt with, the meeting being a very successful one.
