BOWLING
THE HARDLEY SHIELD*
MATCH AT HAMILTON TO MORROW.
The annual match between, the Auckr Jand and South Auckland Centres' representatives for the Hardley Shield will, take place to-morrdw (Wednesday) at the Hamilton, Club's greens. The visitors will be represented to the extent of 11 teams.
The following two Cambridge rinks will take part in the match: l —Cooper, Nieoll, J. Low (s). E. J. Easter, H. McCathie, Edgar James, S. R. James (s).. * These two teams played' in the Hardley Shield match against Auckland at the beginning of the season at Auckland, and we understand that the S.A. Centre requested that the same teams play again. Under these circumstances they cannot be regarded as test teams.. If the Hardley Shield contest is a test between the two Centres, and the writer presumes it is, as the Shield is at stake, then the request that the same teams play again is an extraordinary one. The writer also under-, stands that in the first place Cambridge was asked to send one team only,, and that a ballot took place to decide which of the above two teams should go. Of course, if the Hardley Shield is regarded as a friendly inter-Centre match then the procedure of finding the loeal team or teams will not be questioned, but if on the other hand the contest is a test between the two Centres * representatives, then the best available team or teams from Cambridge should be selected and sent. Wright's Trophy Pinal. The final of the Wright's trophy competition was played on the greens last week, between W. H. Woolley and W. Perkins, a game productive of good bowling,- resulting in a merited win for Woolley by 21 points to 12. Woolley took the lead in the. early stages, but half way through the game Perkins got within a point or two. However, Woolley was played consistently and went on to win comfortably.
