A REMARKABLE WOMAN
HALE AT 104 YEARS. HAS HAIR BOBBED AT 102. Reputed to be the oldest person living in the Eastern Counties of England, Mrs Elizabeth Hasler, of South Primrose Hill, Chelmsford, became 101 the other day. Three of her eight children are living, and there are 35 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Mrs Hasler had her hair bobbed when she was 102, and it has been kept bobbed ever since.
In an interview, Mrs Hasler declared, "I am horrified at the short skirts the girls wear these days, but I think •hair bobbing is a more sensible thing. If only somebody had thought about it when I was a girl what trouble it would have saved me, but I am making up for it in my old age."
Mrs Hasler's husband died in 1915, aged 87. She lives with her "baby" daughter, who is 78, and she is still able to knit and sew.
