J A SUCCESSFUL FIXTURE

"WOMEN'S DIVISION EFFORT.

Held at the Leamington Domain on Saturday last the garden fete organised by the local Women's Division of

the Farmers' Union was a very suc-

cessful affair. The function was in aid •of the Division's bush nurse and house-

•keeper scheme; also the local Division funds. The fete was a financial, as well as a social success, about £3O being

Taised. f In the early afternoon the fete was

officially opened by Mr Fred Lye, M.P., who emphasised the objects of the

Women's Division and the splendid work that was being carried out in the Dominion, especially in the back-

"blocks.

The Division president, Mrs J. A. "Wallace, in introducing the member, expressed sincere thanks for the good •attendance, and thanked all who had contributed to the fete in any way. Amid the ideal setting of the Leamington Domain a very happy afternoon was. ; spent by all present, the time being taken up with games,, competitions, and other amusements. Afternoon tea was an important item, and then again those present did not fail to do business with the several stalls grouped ■under the punga pergola. During the afternoon the Municipal Band helped euLven proceedings with a capital pro-

gramme, which was greatly appreciated "bv the Division.

Division on the day by members of the Tarmers' Union. The Division executive is also indebted to the Leamington Domain Board for the use of the Domain, and to the caretaker, "Mr Hulme, for his assistance.
