FOOTBALL

UNITED CLUB.

ANNUAL MEETING

The annual meeting of the United Football Club was held on Thursday evening in Mr Gardiner's tea-rooms, when Mr A. E. Harris presided over a fair attendance of players and supporters. A vote of sympathy was passed with the families of the late Mr J. Foster and the late Mrs J. Taylor

Report and Balance Sheet.

The annual report was as under: —

The executive of the club has no winning achievements to chronicle for the 1929 season, but can lay/claim to having fulfilled'thc .' season's obligations in quite a substantial way. Each of the three teams entered by the club did swell in the championship matches, displaying a very fair standard of play on the field. Throughout the season the club spirit was maintained in a very excellent manner, a state of affairs very gratifying to the management of the club and quite necessary from the executive's point of view. If the same degree of club spirit is displayed again in the coming season (and we expect it will be) then we expect better results than last year, and hope that some C.R.v'J. trophies may fall to the club for the season's keeping. The club congratulates those members who -were successful in gaining representative honours in their respective grades, and recommends those who wore not so successful to continue in their remembering that even the famous All Blacks have to be chosen from the ranks of clubs such as our own. The executive offers seasonal greetings to 'the Cambridge Rugby SubTfnion and congratulates that body on the success it attained in all grades last season, and hopes for even greater success this season. Balance Sheet. The balance sheet showed a credit of £5 3/8 for the season's working, and showed that the club had been run on very business-like lines. Election of Officers.
