PROGRESS OF ESTIMATES.

TREASURER’S MONTHLY REPORT.

The following is a summary of the treasurer’s (Mr F. R. Watters) monthly report on the finances of the borough to be presented at the monthly meeting of the council this evening:— Expenditure. General Account. Expended for February, £772 4/-; expended for nine months, £12,621 13/-; estimate for the year, £13,431. Water Supply Account, not including interest expended for month, £32 2/8; expended for nine months, £377 16/8; estimate for year, £435. Water loan, now refunded £2O 9/10; water loan to be refunded £124 16/4 Gas .Supply Account, not including interest, for February, £153 2/7; for nine months, £2071 19/5; estimate for year, £2264. Abattoir Account, not including interest, for month, £7B 17/6; for nine months, £758 8/2; estimate for year, £944.

Totals, for February, 1161 3/1; for nine months, £15975 3/5; estimate for year, £17074. Temporary |Loans account, for February, £4580; for nine months, £8849 5/5.

Receipts. General Account—Revenue for February, £3466 15/9; for 11 months £9619 3/-; estimate for year, £9289. Water Supply Account—Revenue for February, £1602 2/7; for 11 months, £3114 8/1; estimate for year, £3535 Gas Supply Account— For February £240 /6/8; for 11 months, 2727 4/10, estimate for year, £315 6. Abattoir Account—For February, £133 9/11; for 11 months, £I3OO 8/10; estimate for year, £1552. Totals—Revenue for February, £5442 14/11; revenue for 11 months, £16,761 4/9; estimate for year, £17,526. Temporary Loans Account— Revenue for 11 months, £7572 5/5. , The treasurer reports that the Bank Balance on February 28th was £9O 12/1 debit, while Temporary Loans held amounted to £lO only. Current rates collected to the same date amounted to £7783 4/11, which represents 90.1 per cent, of the total collectable. The outstanding rates in respect of which no arrangements for payment have been made with me will be placed in the Borough Solicitor’s hands for collection immediately.
