POWER BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING.

GENERAL BUSINESS

The monthly meeting of the Cambridge Power Board was held on Friday last. Those present were: Messrs M. Wells (chairman), W. Harbutt, J. W. GaiJand, W. Moore, J. S. Fisher, T. A. Hicks, J. T. Entwislc, F. M. Oliver (secretary), and 11. C. Oaten (engineer). An apology for absence was received from Mr F. Lye, M.P. Loan Monies. Messrs Buxton and C'o. wrote offering the board further loan money for investment. As the board was not requiring any jiioney at present, the letter was received. Lease of Sub-station. The Public Works Department wrote requesting a renewal of their lease of the Hautapu sub-station. It was resolved to grant a further lease for a period of five years. Disputed Account. The chairman reported that the long disputed account with the larmeis Auctioneering Company had been satisfactorily settled, and the whole amount paid over to the board. It was resolved to have it recorded in the minutes that the board expresses satisfaction that the claim had been fully settled. Engineer’s Report. Progress made since our last meeting is as follows: —Cambridge 593, increase of 1; Leamington 115, no increase; country lighting 486, increase of 2; milking motors 289, no increase; water heaters 400, increase of 3; ranges 125, increase of 2. In addition were added two water pumps, two bowser lights and two refrigerators. Total consumers now number 1274, a net increase of four for the period under review. Tests and Inspections: The inspector made 11 tests and inspections of new work and installed 10 meters and three time-switches.

Linesmen: The line at Fencourt for Mr Powell, comprising half a mile of H.T., transformer, etc., is now completed and running. Additional alterations for the P. and T. Department have been and several services run. Work is now in hand for the completion of the street lighting alterations for the Borough Council. Earth Leakage Relays: Since last meeting two of the feeders, Roto-o-rangi and Cambridge, have been completely equipped with earth leakage relays, and next week Pukeroro and Fencourt will be commenced, after which Monavale will be finished off. After the installation is completed I have arranged for a scries of tests to be made to ensure positive safety under all conditions.
