SARRON V. DONOVAN. AMERICAN LO,SES ON FOUL. By Telegraph—Press Association ( NEW PLYMOUTH, Saturday. In the natural amphitheatre at Western Park, 8000 gathered to witness the much heralded contest' between Pete Sarron, of United States, and Tommy Donovan, the Waitara fireman. The bout was scheduled for 15 rounds, but in the seventh, after being previously warned, the American was disqualified for delivering a blow to the back of the neck. Donovan was proclaimed the winner on a foul. ( Up to the unfortunate ending of the contest the fight was an energetic one, Donovan doing most of the leading, though the general opinion was that the American was ahead on points. Early in the seventh Sarron delivered a right, to Donavan’s stomach, and had the Waitara man doubled up. Sarron followed up his advantage and twice had Donovan down for the count of eight. Donovan was distressed and was being pounded about the ring when the bWtv" was dealt that lost the contest for Sarron, when victory was very nearly within his grasp. •
