Mr and Mrs B. Farquhar and son left for Auckland on Wednesday, en route to Sydney on Friday. Mrs D. R. Caldwell accompanied them to Auckland.

FAREWELL TO MR AND MRS E. VEALE. A most enjoyable -farewell party w r as given on Wednesday evening by Mr and Airs W. Garland, of Leamington, to Mr and Airs E. Vcale, who are leaving Cambridge to make their home in Tauranga. The drawing-room was decorated with sweet peas and cosmos, and the dining-room where supper was served with pale pink dahlias. Flag bridge was the amusement provided, and the winners were Aliss Braim, Aliss Clemow and Air E. Vcale. Airs W. Garland was wearing a tangerine beaded frock; Airs Garland, senr., black, silk; Aliss Garland, blue figured crepe de chine; Airs E. Vcale, black georgette; Airs Collis, black georgette and lace; Airs Nixon, green, georgette with silver lame top; Airs Neely, black georgette and beaded bridge coat; Mrs Nelson, lime and black figured crepe de chine;'-Airs Alunroc, blue and black lace over pink; Airs Latimer, blue crepe de cbiue; Airs W. Mrs Tod and her two children, and nurse, returned 'on Friday from Christehurch, where she had been attending the marriage of her sister; her small daughter Shirley being, one of the bridesmaids.

BRIDGE PARTIES. \ On Friday of last week Mrs Sutherland give two most enj-yablo bridge parties. Two tables in the nf.ernoon and two in the evening. The dr .wingroom was att actively .decorated with bowls of zinneas, heliums asters. All's Sutherland was wearing a black crepe dc chine and Oriental frock. Those present were: Mrs Caldwell, Airs B. Couper, Mrs A. H. Nicoll, Airs B. Farquhar (Fiji), Airs -Roberts, Airs D. Lundon, Aliss Cox, Aliss S. Brann. In the evening Airs Sutherland was wearing a pale blue georgette frock,

beaded in crystal. Airs G. G. L. Taylor was in floral silk; Airs Jonnins, 1 brown ring velvet with gold spot; Airs McKenzie, buttercup georgette; Airs Norman Banks, red and black georgette; Miss Brann, green georgette with sequins; Miss Hart, grey beaded georgette; Aliss Couper, yellow georgette.

FLAG BRIDGE PARTY. On Tuesday evening a most successful! flag bridge party was held by the Golf Club. The follOAving Avcre the Judies’ committees Airs A. H. Nicoll, Mrs Sutherland, Mrs Alahony, Aliss Watt, Aliss Brann, Aliss Garland, Aliss Cox. Aliss Brann Avas in charge of the chart and seeing that the right’moves were made from one table to another. Miss AlcDcvitt did the catering, which saved the ladies’ committee endless trouble. There were 20 tables in use. The table winning the greatest number of flags Averc Airs E. E. Roberts, Mrs Tod and Dr Tod, to whom the president (Air A. H. Nicoll) presented the prizes.

LEAVING FOR ENGLAND. We learn from the ALanawatu Daily Times that Aliss Amy Hodgson (late of Cambridge), who is a member of the staff of the P.D.C., Palmerston North, was the guest of honour at a delightful party given by Air and Mrs T. J. Bcttle at their residence in Clausen Street recently. Aliss Hodgson, who is leaving for Sydney, en route for England, was the recipient of gifts suitable for use on board steamer.

The.dance room Avas arranged with pastel blue and pink streamers. A feature of the evening Avas the cake, Avhich resembled a ship at sea. Each guest was. presented with a head-band in navy blue, with the gold lettering, K.AI.S., preceding the Christian name of each guest. Boavls of loA'cly golden daisies adorned the tables.

At the conclusion of the evening Aliss Hodgson conveyed to the guests her sincere appreciation of the giftspresented to her.

TENNIS DANCE. The Ataungatautari Tennis Club held a delightful little dance in the Alaungatautari Hall on Tuesday night. There Avcre a number of no\ r elty dances, the Alontc Carlo being won by Aliss M.aud Giles "and J. Watson.

ENJOYABLE AFTERNOON. A very enjoyable afternoon Avas spent on Tuesday last at the homo of Air and Airs J. Hooker, of Hall Street, A\ r here a feAV intimate friends gathered to bid farcAvell to Air and Airs E. Vcale, Avho left Cambridge yesterday for Tauranga. The large draAving-room Avas tastefully decorated with bowls of autumn floAvers in shades of bronze and blue.

Airs Hooker received her guests in a navy blue georgette dress, and the guest of honour, Airs E. Vealc, .wore black crepe dc chine, relieved Avit’n touches of AA r hite. The time passed happily in games, music and competitions. and a very dainty afternoon tea was served. FENCOURT W.C.T.U. CRADLE ROLL DAY. On Thursday last the Fcncourt W.C.T.U. held its annual Cradle Roll day at the Feucourt Church. There was a good attendance of mothers - and children, who were addressed during the afternoon by Airs Lea. A musical competition was held and was won by Airs E. C. Beer. Another feature of the day was the gift tree, from which each child present received a gift. Airs G. W. Simpson, on behalf of the Union, thanked all those present for their attendance and hearty co-opera-tion. A bounteous afternoon tea, provided by the committee ladies, brought a very enjoyable afternoon to a close.

ENJOYABLE DANCE. An enjoyable dance was given in the Ngaliinapouri Hall on Friday evening, Alarch 7th, by Air and Airs Stewart Reid, in honour of the approaching marriage of their daughter, Flora. The hall was prettily decorated with cherry blossoms, streamers, parasols and Japanese lanterns, and together with the coloured frocks of the guests, presented a very pleasing spectacle. Hildreth’s orchestra was in attendance. After supper a carnival touch was added tc the occasion by the distribution of caps and fans, and several twilight dances were enjoyed. The hostess received her guests in a charming frock of black ring velvet and georgette, and Aliss Reid wore a

primrosc»flowcrcd satin frock. The early hours of the morning brought a very enjoyable evening to a close.
