Mr K. Buchanan (Matanrata), judge of the juvenile pony classes, said as a whole the ponies shown were particularly good, even taking into consideration that the Cambridge district is noted in tins direction. The Shetland ponies were very strong and were good enough to be entered anywhere. The riding was very good and the local High School girls’ team of four was outstanding. The girls deserved gicat credit for the way they had schooled their mounts. The judge said he was pleased with the whole section and the condition in which the ponies wcio brought into the ring reflected the greatest credit on the owners, and those who had had the preparation of them. *

THE GRAND PARADE. Always a pleasing feature of the show, the grand parade on People’s Day was generally conceded to he one of the most spectacular and attractive ever held in the Waikato. Thanks to the excellent management of the marshalls (Messrs Wynn Brown, H. Crowthcr and 11. Windsor), assisted by the head stewards, the arrangements were excellent, the event being carried through punctually and with the utmost precision. Pride of place was given to the Milking Shorthorns, headed by that grand animal, Mr V. McD. Hitching’s Kuku Boss Owl, the-cham-pion bull. Next in order were the Ayrfollowed by the Holsteins and Jerseys. These combined animals made- a display of cattle that would do credit to any show in the Dominion. Despite the inroads of the motor in this mechanical age, the parade of horseflesh was a magnificent one that greatly delighted the huge crowd, for who is there that does not love a good horse? The draughts had place of honour in the van, and though not numerous, the animals were a remarkably

fine lot. The thoroughbreds, hunters, and hacks made a brave show, the crowd especially cheering such warm f.avcfurites as “Little England” and “El Arish” as they passed by. The children’s hacks and ponies made a specially attractive group, while the harness horses also came in for .a good share of attention.

Altogether the paTade was a huge success, and the great crowd showed their appreciation of what was generally conceded to be one of the finest parades ever seen in the province.
