MONTH OP FEBRUARY. The weather for the month of February has been more settled than earlier in the season, although this year February experienced 2.01 inches more rain than did the same period in 1929. The total rainfall for the month was 2.47 inches, falling on 12 days. The Auckland record was far in advance of the local one. The total for the city was 6.66in5., although rain fell only on 11 days. The heaviest fall for any one day was .S7in. ? on the 13th. Barometer Reading. The temperatures in the shade for the period under review have been somewhat higher than usual. Tho mean maximum reading for the month was 74.7 degrees, while the mean minimum was 03.1 degrees. The highest maximum reading recorded was 82.3 degrees and the lowest was 64.2 on the 26th. On the minimum side the extremes were 42.6 degrees and 57.8 degrees. The Auckland readings w r ere 73 degrees mean maximum,. and the mean minimum 59 degrees. Sunshine. The sunshine for th 6 month was a little lower than last year, but easily eclipsed the Auckland record. The reading was 212 hours 54 minutes, compared with 231 hours 42 minutes the previous year. The city reading was 196 hours 5 minutes. The maximum local record for one day was 13 hours 18 minutes on the 3rd. Sunshine was experienced on 25 days, and the average for the month was 8 hours 36 minutes. Wind. Tho wind' run last month was 2383 miles, with tho greatest run of 199 miles on the Gth. This shows a big drop on the record of the previous month when 2643 miles were run. Those figures were kindly supplied to us by Mr fT Sturgeon of the local climatic station. Rain at Roto-o-rangi. The total rainfall at Roto-o-rangi for the month was 2.17 inehesj falling on nine days, with a maximum fall of .90 inches on the 15th. We are indebted to Mr J. W. Peake for these figures. Kautapu Figures. At Mr R. S. Levesque’s gauge at Hautapu the rainfall for February w r as 2.55 inches, falling on 10 days, with the maximum on the 13th, when .90 inches were recorded. The average fall for the month of February for the past 18 years has been 3.o6ins.
