A PUBLIC NUISANCE.
(To the Editor)
Sir.--As a patron of our only theatre on Saturday evening last and on many previous occasions, I beg for a small space in your paper to complain of the disgusting odour which arises from the top door on the left of the Town Hall. Surely to all nght-minded people this must seem an extraordinary place for a men's convenience, and that people sitting within 20yds of same should be compelled to tolerate such a stench is outrageous. Cannot something be done to prevent the place being used, or if this be impossible, could not disinfectant, or proper flushing be carried out so as to alleviate the suffering of those patrons within radius of the odour? It is not an exaggeration to call it suffer-ing—-it is almost unbearable. It is not easy for one to discuss a subject of this Uiu 1 , but I have steeled myself to write about a thing which I am sure many other.- less brave have been longing to mention. But, perhaps this new drainage scheme one hears so much of may alter matters. Let us sincerely hope so! —I am, etc.,
