PERSONAL. Mr and Mrs D. R, Caldwell returned to Cambridge on Monday niglit from their trip to England. Miss Myra Taylor has returned home after spending a month at Rotorua. Mrs Winter, of Gisborne, has boon staying with Mrs S. Armstrong. Mrs and Miss Tomlinson, of Taumarunui, are on a visit to Cambridge, staying with Mrs P. G. Lewis. The Rev. C. Mortimer-Jones, Vicar at Hastings, and his mother, who has come from England to visit him, spent the week-end in Cambridge. There was a large congregation to hear him preach at St. Andrew’s Church on Sunday night. They left for Auckland on Monday, and returned on Thursday on •their way home. AFTERNOON TEA. On Thursday Mrs Skeet, of Leamington, gave a most enjoyable afternoon tea. The drawing-room decorations were., roses and sweet peas. Mrs ,Skcet -was wearing a navy blue crepe de chine fiock, with Oriental trimming. Miss Skeet wore a frock of beige crepe do chine. Amongst those present were Mrs,.Ritchie, Mrs Kingsford, Mrs Possenniskie, Mrs M. Wells, Mrs W. Horne, Mrs Couper, Mrs S. Lewis, Mrs Hunt, Miss Couper. TENNIS PARTY. On Friday Miss A. Nelson gave a .most enjoyable tennis party for Miss JE. Garland, who is to be married shortly. Each guest took a gift for, the Ikitchen. Tca-was served in the diningroom, the flowers being scarlet dahlias .and sweet peas. Mrs Nelson was wearing a navy georgette, frock and navy hat; Miss A. Nelson, primrose georgette frock - and large primrose hat; Miss E. Garland, ivory milanese jumper suit with henna chenille trimming, and large white hat. Those present were Mesdames Nelson, W. Horne, W. Garland, Max Garland, B. Nelson, Williams, Otway. Mes.ses A. Nelson, E. Garland, Collis, Veale, 'Short, Olemow, R. Soutor, M. Souter, H. Crowther, B. Crowther, Hulme, No,ian,. Robinson, G. ' Neely, Couper, Thompson. V GIPT PARTY. Mrs and the Misses Crowther gave a charming party on Wednesday in honour! < of Miss E. Garland. Very enjoyable -tennis was played, and a delicious tea was served. Those present were: Mesdames Crowther, W. Garland, Veale, Otway (To Awamutu), Williams (Te Awamutu), Misses H. Crowther, B. drowther, B. Buckland, E. Garland, J. Veale, Collis, Nelson, R. Souter, M. Souter, Todd, Thompson, Clemow, Couper, Short, Skeet, G. Neely,. Priestley, M. Hart, I. Garland, Hulme, P. Garland. Each guest was asked to bring a gift for the bride-elect, and a lovely lot of things were given. ABRIDGE AFTERNOON. On Thursday afternoon Mrs H. L. T’ossenniskie entertained a few friends • at a bridge afternoon. The decorations comprise!!' dahlias and sweet peas, ~ stively arranged.
