Yesterday was the tenth anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, which scaled peace in Europe after the Great War. At a clearing sale on account of Mr. R/W. C. Rutherford, held by Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., at Taupiri, on Wednesday last, the. whole herd .of 122 cows averaged £ll/3/- per cow: Good quality early calving cows brought from £ls to £l9. At Hamilton S.M. Court yesterday, a young man, Barnett Davis, who banged the head of the wife of the man he worked for against a wall, because she poked her tongue out at him, was convicted and ordered to appear for sentence if called upon within six months. In order not to clash with the visit of Allan Wilkie's Shakespearean Company on Monday evening next, the next fortnightly meeting of the Cambridge Literary and Debating Society will be held at the Peace Memorial Hall next Wednesday, July 3rd, instead of Monday, as printed on the syllabus. Next Wednesday evening's meeting will be devoted to a “Newspaper Evening," when members will discuss and Comment upon to-day's (Saturday) New, Zealand Herald. It is hoped that a very large number of members will take this opportunity of taking some partno matter how.small—in the mooting.

The usual weekly dance organised by the Regent Dance Band will be held in the Regent Hall this evening, A feature, to-night will be a jazzing competition.

Mr. Adam Wilson, manager of the Bank of New Zealand at Thames, has been appointed manager of the bank's Gisborne branch. Mr. Wilson will be succeeded at Thames by Mr. J. S. Golumb, manager of the Whakatane branch of the bank:'

The party of 300 Otago farmers who arc touring the North Island spent .the afternoon in Hamilton yesterday. They were given a cordial welcome on arrival and were then shown over the Ruakurrt Farm of Instruction.

“The Old-Time Religion" will fofm the sermon theme in Trinity Presbyterian Church, to-morrow morning. There will also be an address to children, the topic being “The Story of Two Dinner Parties." The preacher's subject at the evening service will bo "The Church at the Crossroads," The Rev. Jas. Hay will conduct both services. A cordial invitation is extended to all.*

An orror crept into our report of the Chamber of Commerce meeting, and in connection with the new local railway time-table as reported on by the stationmaster, Mr. Munns. The report stated that, the 2,10 p.m. train from Cambridge enabled a connection to be made that would arrive in Auckland at 3.40.
