LADIES' GAME.

LOCAL TEAM DEFEATED.

0n Saturday last the Leamington ladies' hockey teaih 'played Huia {Fntfikton) ladies, arid were defeated fey two goals to nil. Huia fielded a very strong, team, arid it was a fast and even game. The loeal team were without the services Of JL Shaw, a prominent forward, who :.fni playing at Hamilton in a trial match for the Waikato reps. i Mr. Don McKinnori kindly acted as . referee. ■■•-,< The visitors were entertained to tea fcy the local ladies. * ' Jhe local team was as follows:—VW Thompson, D. COMPETITION GAME. v.- • •'vmTEO 6 v. OLD BOYS 2. Competition games were advanced a further stage at Leamington on Saturday, when United (six goals) met and defeated. Old Boys (two goals). Old 3Boy« made-the mistake of trying to ieep United from scoring instead of jooking for scores for themselves, and when they woke up to the fact. United mete well ahead.
