.MEETING- AT TE AWAMUTU. GENERAL BUSINESS. The monthly meeting' of the Waipa Connty Council was held at the county offices, Te Awamutu, yesterday, when there wore present: Crs S. C. Maeky (chairman), N. Roid, G. S. Clarke, W. McGec. A. ■ H. Storey, S. Saulbrcy, A. Livingstone, E. G. Speake, ,T. S. Fisher, J. T. Johnson. E. F. Peacocke and T. Church. Mr T. Grant (county clerk) i and Mr J. W. Civil (engineer) were also in attendance. Maungatautari Reserve, Cr J. S. Fisher stated in respect to the Maungatautari reserve, he had discussed the matter with Cr J#dd. of the Matamata County. Mr Judd had expressed the opinion that the time might come when timber would be taken from the reserve, and the Matamata Council hoped Waipa Council would, appoint a ranger to keep a look-out. \Thc opinion was expressed that there was little likelihood of timber being tatym from the reserve on the Waipa side—it was almost impossible to get on the property—but the council expressed itself willing to do anything they could. The councillor for the riding interested was authorised by the council to iappoint a ranger to keep an oversight of the reserve. Stock on Roads. Considerable discussion ensued with jegard to stock on roads, several complaints being made of the trouble in various parts, more particularly in the Rangiaohia, Orakau and Mangapiko ridings. It was eventually decided to ■ make arrangements for the appointment of a ranger to deal with the nuisance. During the discussion it was stated that the Pukekura riding already had a ranger, but the work was not being .done very satisfactorily just now. Motor Speeding. The Inspector of Police, Hamilton, •wrote in reply to a letter from the council complaining of motorists speeding on the Main South Road, in the ■vicinity of the Ohaupo and Te Papa schools, and stated that the complaiut ityould reeeive attention, ; Balance Sheet. ' : A special meeting of the council was neld to consider the annual balance sheet for the year ending March 31st last. The,county clerk stated 'that the audit had'been carried out much earlier than usual, consequently the two balance sheets were brought forward within a few months. The balance sheet, which had been found correct, and had no tag, was formally adopted by the council with: out discussion. i Hospital Fees. clerk, Waikato Hospital Board, fo'rwarded particulars of patients from Waipa County who have received treatment and since then have not paid the fees, nor can the hospital authorities "obtain any satisfaction from them. The information was sent in the hope that •the council could assist in the collection of the fees due. The evasion of these responsibilities entailed a heavier burden on the general body of taxpayers. There were five names on the list, and they owed amounts ranging from .£l6 6s to £4o.—l>iscussed in committee.

Technical College. The returning officer for the Hamilton Technical College invited the council to appoint one representative on the board of managers. Mr J. Gilbert, of Hamilton, at present represents local •authorities on the board and is eligible for re-election. —Cr Peacock reappointed to the position. Accounts. Accounts to the total of £2508 Is lid were passed for payment. Unpaid Bates. The council discussed the matter of unpaid rates. A list of defaulters presented by the clerk was referred to the Tiding members, who are to investigate patters prior to taking drastic action -to; recover same. County Roads. The council passed a formal resolution declaring certain roads in the county—already published—as county Toads. Te Bore Water Supply. The - county engineer submitted a plan for the proposed' water supply for Te Bore district. The scheme, he said, was an excellent one in every way and should confer a great boon on those interested. The estimate of the cost was £I7OO, but Mr Civil suggested that a bigger pipe be used than at first proposed, and that the sum of £2OOO be Taised. After discussion it was resolved that the engineer and clerk be empowered to take the necessary steps to carry out the scheme.
