OBITUARY
ME NEWTON" KING-. (By Telegraph—Press Association). NEW PLYMOUTH, Wednesday. The death occurred unexpectedly this afternoon of Mr Newton King, chairman of Newton King, Ltd., aged 72 years. , Deceased was one of Taranaki's pioneers and had a wide range of interests throughout the province. Mr King was born in New Plymouth in 1855, and was the second son of Mr Thomas King, one of the first settlers. Deceased is survived by his widow, three sons and two daughters, also two brothers, Sir Truby King, of Wellington, and Mr Henry King, of New Plymouth. The late Mr King was well-known throughout the Waikato and especially at Cambridge. Mrs W. Signal!, of Matamata, passed away at the Matamata Public Hospital on Saturday morning. A widower and five children are bereaved. The death of Mr Robert Bycroft, aged 77, occurred at the residence of his daughter, Mrs Crawford, Papatoetoe, on Monday. Mr Bycroft, who was born in the old windmill at Epsom, a landmark of Auckland for many years, was a son of the late Mr John Bycroft, founder of the firm of Bycrofts, Ltd., flourmillers and biscuit manufacturers, and cousin to Messrs C. H. and P. Bycroft. late of Cambridge.
