'CAMBRIDGE RUGBY UNION. MEETING OF EXECUTIVE.. :V ‘ V .A meeting of the Cambridge) Eugbi Union executive was held on Tuesday evening, the president, Mr AA\ Milburu in the chair. Considerable' discussion ensued rein f.ve to the appointment of a secretary .the president stating that they had be f'.re hem a resolution from the annual meeting that a secretary be appointed at a salary of £25 per annum. Mr Montgomery said if they were going to appoint a man at. £25 per annum •‘they should be assured that such official would be responsible for all organising besides secretarial work. The president thought that the executive should invite applications for V>i position with defined duties. • (On the motion of Messrs Montgomery and Keeley a resolution to this effect was carried, the position to- be advertised immediately. Opening the Season. • The opening of the season was fixed .for Saturday, April 23. V . Entertainment of Visitors. Mr R. Webber brought up the matter of a smoke social held by Lcaming•Von Club last season, and said that at union’s request Leamington execu■•'iive enlarged the function in honour •<qf the visit of the Ivarangahake jundiors. The president of the union and Aptlier members were present, but the visiting footballers did not attend, Mlespitc the fact that they had been invited. Leamington had occurred considerable expense, the function showing a debit of £2 9/9, and the Leamington 'Club thought that the union should -meet the debit. .In view of all the circumstances it '•was unanimously agreed to accede to iLeani ing ton ’s request. Support for One Big Upion. * Mr Montgomery reported that with the president he had attended the AA raikato Union delegates meeting last week and the Taranaki scheme had been fully explained. AVith one exception the meeting was in favour of the suggested scheme for the improvement of Rugby in the AA r ai.kato. Mr Montgomery farther stated that ihcre were apparent differences between •the Waikato Union and Hamilton Subunion. The latter felt aggrieved at - the union holding so many rep. matches in Hamilton, thereby interfering with their competitions and in other ways. Therevwas an expressed desire to go so far as to form two unions iii the \Vai■ikato. Mr Montgomery, supported by the

president ,thought the latter suggestion would be fatal to football generally. The solving of the difficulty seemed to be in the introduction of the one big 'union with two sub-districts. The, delegates, were heartily thanked for their report. \ Permanent Delegates. The president and Mr Montgomery were appointed delegates to the Waikato Union for the season. A Friendly Match. The Ci ty Club Were* granted permission to arrange a match at Victoria Square against Arapuni, and to take up a collection. Use of Victoria Square. It was resolved to make application for the usi* of AUctoria Square for the season, the matter to be left in the hands of the president.' Grounds Supervisor. It was unanimously agreed that Mr It. AVebber act as grounds supervisor for the season. Mr Webber was heartily thanked for his generous action in accepting the office.
