PUKERORO DRAINAGE

INSPECTION COMMITTEE’S ' REPORT. PROCEEDING WITH IMPROVEMENTS. • There was, an attendance of fifteen interested farmers at a further meeting held iii the Hautapu school last evening to consider the report of an inspection sub-eommitteo set up in connection with proposed improvements to the Pukcroroi drain. Mr W. Cartmill presided. ...... y On behalf of the inspection committee Mr G. M. Watt reported at length on a recent inspection of the drain, and the committee’s suggested improvements. Mr S. Cowling (Cambridge), a previous owner of Mr T. W. Diseombe’s property, through which the drain passes, was present, and gave useful information to the meeting regarding the fall in that portion of the drain; also of the portion in Messrs Charlton and Discombe’s properties, the maintenance of which the Cambridge Road Board is responsible for.

After considerable discussion it was decided to go on with the scheme of improvements to the whole of the drain and its outlet, the following working committee being set up: Messrs W. Cartmill (chairman), C. H. Hargreaves (secretary), W. Rush, Jas. Dunning, and W. Stokes, with power to act. Mr C. Potts, of “ Broad meadows, ” was appointed assessor. An agreement was drawn up and signed by twelve of those present, whose properties directly benefit by the presence of the drain. The secretary was requested to have the live remaining signatories sign the agreement. It was further decided that immediately the assessor has completed his work, tenders be called for cleaning the whole of the drain, together with the outlet in Mr Diseombe’s property, and that the work be commenced at the earliest.
