NEW NUMBER PLATES
MAKE THEIR APPEARANCE. registrations SLOW. The new number plates have made their appearance in Cambridge and certainly they are. a vast improvement of last year's green and white issue. The new plates are being issued from the local post office, an official having been specially detailed for this particular task. i
On enquiry yesterday we learned that applications from motorists are coming in very slowly and of 700 tCgistrations only 35.0 had* then been effected. This is hardly fair to the officials and now there is bound to be a serious congestion on the last day qf registration (Wednesday). The local officer in charge is also hampered in his work by the failure of many applicants to bring last year's registration papers with them. These are very useful in compiling the new registration papers.
