QUARTERLY MEETING. - CAMBRIDGE CIRCUIT. The quarterly meeting of officials of the Cambridge Methodist Church was : held at St, Paul’s schoolroom on Tuesday evening last, when Rev. W. J. Elliott presided over a small attendance of officers, quite a number of apologies for unavoidable absence being received. , The balance sheet showed an increase in the deficit of nearly £2O for the quarter, nearly all due to extraordinary expenditure.

A most generous offer .was made by Mr Geo, Clark of a substantiau donation towards the debt extinction, provided the balance required to clear'the whole debt whs raised within a fortnight. The offer was accepted with hearty thanks, and Mr B. J. Melville and M. Butler kindly consented to endeavour to collect the required sum. Several donations were promised in the room. o - - . : :

The Finance Committee recommended that an appeal be made to all members and adherents to subscribe regularly through the envelope system; towards the circuit fund. It was resolved to accept tlie recommendation of the committee, and to issue a circular, to be followed by a personal appeal for subscribers through this system. ’ Mr Geo. Carter was appointed envelope steward. Permission was granted to Learnington and Fencourt Sunday schools to hold anniversary services during the quarter. ; ■ ; The chairman intimated that Rev; W. Sinclair, Foreign Mission secretary, would visit Cambridge on. 23rd May, and act as F.M. deputation; also that F.M. ■ Sunday would be observed throughout the circuit during the Current quarter. The moving picture, “The Transformed Isle,” would ?be screened in Cambridge in the interests of Foreign Missions. ® . r The matter of making arrangements for the picture screening was left in the hands of the chairman and the circuit stewards. It was announced that Rev. Dr Laws, Principal of the Theological College, would visit Cambridge next; Sunday, and also give an address on the 15th inst., with respect to the new Theological College scheme. The Rev. Elliott, circuit stewards, and Messrs M. Butler, E. J. Easter and G. Carter were'H appointed a Committee to make arrangements in connection .with Dr Laws’ visit.

The resignation of Air F. ,W. Bycroft as a society steward was accepted with regret, and the meeting resolved to place on record its warm appreciation of Mr BycrotVs faithful service pyer a lengthy term of office.
