years boon engaged in the identification of poisons by moans of such impressions, he could confidently give it as his opinion that the imprints wore from one and the same thumb. At the Old Bailey on September .14, 1002, the prisoner was found guilty, and sent to penal servitude for seven years. The late Sir Richard Muir, who prosecuted, said this was the first time fingerprints had been used as evidence in a court of justice in England.
